I'm currently working on an article for Photo Techniques on the New 400 T-Max film. A long time ago I had an interesting conversation with Phil about the difference between presoak and NO presoak when film testing. The results can be quite different. Interestingly with the BTZS tubes (no presoak), I found a dilution of 1+9 with Ilford DDX @ 75 degrees and 1+12 with Ilford DDX @ 75 degrees for the Jobo 3010 Drum (5 minute presoak) looked quite similar.
Presoaking added a lot more contrast. I thought I would mention it before you start testing.   |
