Shannon, explain your method for arriving at your exposure will you please? I have found the ExpoDev to be amazingly accurate when doing close work. It has been a total no brainer really. Make certain you enter the focal length of the lens and all I do is measure the subject to lens distance and enter that.
I haven't yet had a dud exposure. One point with the visually denser negs, have you read the neg with a densitometer to confirm your suspicions? Also have you fired both shutters at the same speed to see if they are close speed wise?
